Did you know that stuffed animals are proven to help kids read? Articles from CNN and Scholastic suggest that young children of all ages take comfort and gain confidence from reading with a stuffed creature in hand.
Any parent who has had the chance to volunteer in our amazing CRS library during the school year knows it's no secret that our giant lions, tigers, bears and other stuffed creatures are a popular and well-loved part of our children's weekly library visits. Who gets to sit on the giant lion is almost as big of a deal as the stories our librarian, Mrs. Luciano, reads to the kids each week!
This summer, our CRS PTA, working with Mrs. Luciano and Mrs. Gagliardo, purchased an entirely new set of creatures great and small for the kids to enjoy this school year. Yes, there are the customary giant lions and tigers (2!), plus a giant sea turtle! We also have plenty of smaller friends to cuddle with, along with literary characters from Mo Willems, Lilly's Purple Purse, Max & Ruby, Humpty Dumpty, Paddington and more. A small army of animal puppets round out the selection for our creative learners.
We hope your kids are as excited as we are about these new, snuggly friends in our library! Anything that promotes a love of reading is a great thing in our book!
